This week our challenge is to confront conventions, resist reality and defy innate desires. We will break the shackles of representationalism and we will do it with the power of Abstract Art. Now, I know that though there is a general line of demarcation between the two camps of non-representational and representational art, it is often blurry and not easily defined. Which could decidedly lead some of you to think, "isn't all art abstract? How is this different from other challenges?" And to you devotees of Picasso I share with you the words of the late art critic and historian Michel Seuphor who said that abstract art is, "all art that does not recall or evoke reality, regardless of whether that reality be the point from which the artist started, or not." As clarifying as Seuphor is, astute individuals can still see a divide in what we know as "abstract" and what we understand as "non-representational." Indeed, Picasso may have been on to something when he said all art is abstract art. So, for the purposes of this blog the word "absract" though equivocal can be distilled down to this, "Abstract form," Sheldon Cheney once wrote, "whether narrowed to a summary of the plastic elements, or expressive of the synthesis of instrumental and emotional values, is understood as the basic excellence and test."
Ok...I have no idea what the heck I'm talking about, just go scribble on a piece of paper and post it. This should be fun.

That third piece hurts my eyes. Strong colors for a strong individual. Stay strong Goosaba.
This challenge sucks.
I resent that, Anonymous. I love yours, Jake. I perceive it as a mortar going off, but blood flies out instead of dirt
We need to review the art submitted and decide what pieces to put up, before our site gets worse.
I love yours Willie. Kind of like grapes, kind of like melting icecream, kind of like cream puffs, especially because of the dripping one in the bottom
don't ask what your blog can do for you...ask what you can do for your blog.
it's just a blog guys...let's have fun with it.
Well, I like your stuff! Brilliant, estrange, of exquisite facture... I’m from South America, my work is some dark and funny (it´s rare mixing) if you have time, please visit my gallery on...
